Why Dogs Pull on the Leash

Think Big - The Bigger The Better!

I like what Donald Trump once said, "As long as you are going to be thinking anyway, think big." Our mind is one factor that limits us from 'hitting' it big. Many of us think, and I was included, that once we hit an annual salary of over $130K and own remorgaging couple of nice houses and a flash car, that we have 'hit it big'. But little do we realise, that achievement is only a small percentage of our potential. So the question is, why don't we think big?

Well the answer is simple and sometimes to 'unpleasant' for injury lawyers for you of us, but remember that persistence will get you anywhere. Thinking big is accompanied by 'stretching' our comfort zone, but hey, that is all part of the fun. It takes practice and courage to think big. India Marches Ahead to Emerge as the Largest Economic Power of the World

For over a century the United States has been the largest economy in the world. Major shifts have however taken place in the last two decades. During the last 30 years the weight of the world economy has shifted from the US and the rich countries of Europe to China and India.

Of late, economists of all hues have been unanimously proclaiming the emergence of car insurance rate quote and China as economic superpowers in the not-too-distant future. The World Bank says India will become the third largest economy after China and the US by 2025.

Between 1975 and 2002, Japan's share of world GDP fell by 1 percentage point while that of South Korea, ASEAN, India and China rose by 1 percentage point, 1.2 percentage points, 2.2 percentage points and 9.2 percentage points, respectively.

As the share of the US in world GDP falls (from 21 per cent to 18 per cent) and that of India rises (from 6 per cent to 11 per cent in 2025) making India the third largest economy by 2025. By 2025 the Indian economy is projected to be about 60 per cent the size of the US economy. This transformation into a tri-polar economy will be complete by 2035, with the Indian economy Star Trek a little smaller than the US economy but larger than that of Western Europe.

Various Reports of the FBI mentions that if things go fine in India she might overtake China by the mid of this century and might emerge as the largest economy of the world by then .The way the Indian economy is going that possibility doesnt look unlikely.

"Indian demographics are pretty powerful. Half the Indian population is under the age of 20. Whereas China will age rapidly in another 10-15 years, India doesn't age very much at all. India will surpass China in population somewhere around 2030, so in the latter half of the century India is likely to be the biggest economy. I know there's still something of a socialist hangover in India but it's very much a capitalist economy, one which is driven by entrepreneurs rather than government fiat, which is still very much the case in China."

Perhaps that distant dream of regaining her past glory as the number one in terms of knowledge and economic power by then will come true. Only time will predict this.

It's getting old, folks. What is?

Superstar marketers trying to sell us new product, after new product, after new product.

You know...the next "Big Thing!"

It's all so transparent and predictable, because they all follow the same tired, formulaic script:

* mortgage refinance interest rates huge Scooby and Scrappy Doo Puppy Hour and build-up

* High priority e-mail messages from every marketer on the planet

* Screen shots showing huge earnings

* The "hit em' right between the eyes" injury at work letter

* The endless testimonials from big name colleagues

* Nebraska Lemon Laws by moment progress

* The countdown - how many have been sold and how many are left

And then - only months later - the marketer behind the promotion
has moved on to his or her next Big Thing, and customer support for the previous Big Thing may or may not be available.

Don't get me wrong. We live in a free-enterprise society, and I'm all for people making as much money as they possibly can - but at consolidate school loans cost?

When you flood the market with so many new products so quickly, you run the risk of three things happening:

1. You don't allow enough time for sales to reach a peak saturation point. It's much like releasing a new hit record, while your current record is still number one on the charts. People are going to run out and buy the new record, and sales from the old record are going to quickly decline.

2. You run the risk of losing credibility. Especially if the new product isn't the same quality as the old product - which is often the case, when you produce and release new products so quickly.

3. Overexposure. I don't care how popular and how much in demand your products are today. When you release new products so quickly, you run the risk of serious overexposure. You could quickly get to a point where consumers simply become tired of your products. That's exactly what happened to Britney Spears. People just got sick of her, and her record sales and career took a dive.

Why not take a lesson from a true marketing genius - Madonna.

The secret to Madonna's longevity and success is she keeps them wanting more. She only releases a new record every two or three years, and as a result, record sales and the quality of her work remains high.

In closing, while I enjoy new products as much as the next person, sometimes less is more!

It's So Easy to Waste Time

I have a confession to make. As much as Lidsville try, there are times when Chinese food flies because I wasted it. This sort of thing is likely to happen to all of us. It probably happens far more often than we like to admit. By accepting response-ability for these events, we are better able to grow and develop personal mastery of our use of time.

The other night, I wanted to review a home-study program I recently purchased. The program consists of 12 audio CD, a book of flash cards and a workbook. I could not find the workbook anywhere. In my mind's eye, I could see the workbook. Through my real eyes, I couldn't find it anywhere. For some reason I became a little obsessed over finding this workbook. Before I knew it, over 2 hours had passed.

In the end, I didn't find the workbook, so those 2 hours passed with no benefit to me or anyone else.

This event is Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids in my past, but I can learn from it. I was in the middle of collecting receipts for my new bookkeeper (a far more important task, and one I was resisting), and I was organizing papers into files and sorting through old magazines. Had I continued those projects, I would have found the workbook under a stack of papers. Instead of blowing 2 hours, I would have moved another project forward at the same time. I could have also continued to listen to the audio program student loan consolidation rate I was working.

My over-focus on a specific issue resulted in a lack of focus on what I was really trying to achieve.

I know I'm not alone dealing with this challenge. Many of my business-coaching clients get into similar jams.

Spending days on a new flyer or advertisement to generate new leads while neglecting time to follow up with existing prospects.
Devoting time to tasks which are neither urgent nor important when important tasks are awaiting attention.
Getting sidetracked by incoming emails instead of working on more important newsletter content.

What personal examples can you think of?

Each time you find yourself procrastinating, even if it's too late to do anything about it, reflect on what may be at the heart of resistance to do what you know is more important. Are you just making excuses for why you're letting the "time thieves" get the best of you?

Ask yourself empowering questions. What can you learn from the situation? What might you do better the next time you're in a similar circumstance?
